Getting your Georgia Life, Accident & Sickness insurance license might seem like a lot of steps, but we'll break it down into an easy and actionable plan. Here's your guide to launching your insurance career. 

Step 1: Complete Your Pre-Licensing Course 

Before you can even take the state exam, Georgia requires you to complete an approved pre-licensing education course. This will be the foundation of your knowledge and will prepare you for the state exam. 

• Required Hours: You'll need to complete 16 hours of pre-licensing education
• Note: The requirement was previously 40 hours, however GID recently reduced the hours to 16

Step 2: Pass the Georgia State Licensing Exam 

With your certificate in hand, it's time to take the state exam. Georgia contracts with Pearson VUE to offer its insurance exams. 

You can register HERE. However our course will provide you with the resource to schedule your exam. 

Step 3: Complete the Background and Citizenship Requirements

Passing the exam is a was your second step, but you will need to get fingerprinted.

You can register with IdentoGO. There is a fee for this service. Follow the instructions to get an appointment at an authorized location.

You'll also need to complete and have the official Citizenship Affidavit Form (GID-276-EN) notarized. You must also make a copy of a secure, verifiable identification document (like a driver's license or passport). These documents will be uploaded during the application process.  

Step 4: Apply for Your License 

You will apply for your license online through either the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) or Sircon.

You’ll need to upload your notarized Citizenship Affidavit and ID copy during the application. Once submitted, the state will process your application, review your background check results, and verify your exam score.
