Step 1. Pre-licensing Education

As of recent rules, pre-licensing courses are not required by law in Nevada for many licenses, but taking one significantly increases your chance of passing the exam. Most people take an online course to study for the exam.

Research shows that among those who study using a prep course, first-time pass rates are typically in the 70 to 80% range.

Step 2. Schedule Your Licensing Exam

Exams are administered by Pearson VUE. You’ll need to register through their site. Exam fees vary depending on whether you're doing single line or multiple lines.

Step 3. Background Check / Fingerprinting

Nevada requires a criminal history background check, including digital fingerprinting. There is a fee for fingerprinting. Contact us for a list of approved fingerprint vendors.

Step 4. Submit License Application

After passing the exam and completing the background check, you can apply through the state’s electronic third-party system (Sircon or NIPR).
