Life & Health Insurance License Study Courses

A Nevada P&C license authorizes you to sell and service insurance products that protect people and businesses from financial loss, such as auto, homeowners, renters, commercial property, general liability, and more. It’s a versatile license with strong career potential in both personal and commercial aspects.

1. Exam Preparation 

Nevada does not require pre‑licensing education for P&C candidates, but skipping preparation is a fast track to failing the exam. The state exam is detailed, technical, and not something you can pass on common sense alone. 

Enrolling in a prep course significantly increases your chances of passing the exam.

Most people choose an online prep course because it provides:  

• Structured lessons  
• Practice exams   
• Flashcards   
• Scenario‑based questions  
• A study plan you can follow at your own pace  

2. Take the Nevada P&C Licensing Exam  

Once you’ve studied and feel ready, the next move is scheduling the official license exam through Pearson VUE, Nevada’s testing provider.   

A few things to know:   

• You must pass the exam within one year before applying for your license.   
• Exams are offered both in‑person and online.  
• You’ll need to bring proper identification on exam day.  
• You’ll receive your score report immediately after finishing.  

The exam fee must be paid at the time of reservation, and walk‑ins aren’t allowed, so be sure to schedule ahead.

3. Complete Your Fingerprint‑Based Background Check  

Nevada requires all new applicants to undergo a fingerprint‑based background check. You’ll need to bring a Fingerprint Authorization Form to an approved vendor.

This step ensures compliance with state regulations and helps verify your eligibility to hold a producer license.

4. Submit Your License Application  

After passing the exam and completing fingerprints, you’ll apply for your Nevada Resident Producer license through Sircon. The application includes:  

• A state application fee  
• A small transaction fee  
• Submission of your exam results and background check  

Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by the Nevada Division of Insurance.

5.  Watch for Your Approval  

The state will notify you once your application is approved. If anything is missing or needs clarification, they’ll reach out. Once approved, you’re officially licensed and ready to begin your career.

Tips to Make the Process Smoother  

• Study with intention. Even though Nevada doesn’t mandate coursework, structured prep dramatically increases your odds of passing on the first try.  
• Schedule fingerprints early. Vendors can book up, especially during peak licensing seasons.   
• Keep your documents organized. Exam results, fingerprint receipts, and application confirmations should all be saved.  
• Know your timeline. Your exam pass is valid for one year, so don’t delay your application.

What Happens After You’re Licensed

Once you’re approved, you can begin working with agencies, carriers, or brokerages. Many new agents start in personal lines before expanding into commercial insurance. You’ll also need to complete continuing education every licensing period to stay compliant and maintain your license.
